Oobit vs Depay - what's the difference?

The difference between paying with your Oobit balance and Depay (an external wallet) fees, features, and supported assets.

Written by Jack @ Oobit

Oobit offers two ways to pay with crypto: using your Oobit balance, or with Depay using an external wallet. Both options have the same fees, but Depay has fewer features and supports fewer assets and networks.

Oobit (using your Oobit balance)

You add funds to your Oobit wallet and then pay online or in-store. This is the full Oobit experience, with the widest support for assets and features.

Depay (paying from an external wallet)

You connect an external wallet and pay directly from that wallet, without transferring funds to Oobit first. It's more limited right now, supporting:

  • USDT/USDC on EVM networks (Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain)

  • USDT/USDC/OOB on Solana

In short: same cost, but paying from your Oobit balance is more flexible, while Depay is a simpler way to pay directly from an external wallet, with some limitations.
