How do I set up and use PIX?

Send and receive BRL through PIX from your Oobit account. Brazil residents only.

Written by Bernard Fisher

Note: Oobit has two features that use PIX. This article covers PIX, the standalone feature for sending and receiving with a PIX key, provided by our partner Avenia. Bank Transfer via PIX is a separate flow inside Send Crypto, with its own requirements and fees.

Who can use PIX?

PIX is available to Brazil residents only, 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Before you can use it, complete a short one-time verification with Avenia. It's based on your existing Oobit verification, so it's quick. If something needs fixing, the app asks you to resubmit.

Send with PIX (crypto to BRL)

  1. Enter a PIX key: CPF, CNPJ, phone, email, random key, or scan a QR code.

  2. Check the recipient and amount. You can add a description of up to 140 characters.

  3. Confirm.

Your crypto is only taken once the payment is confirmed. If it fails, nothing is taken from your balance.

Descriptions are sent as letters, numbers and spaces only. Accents and punctuation are removed automatically, so "Aluguel, apto-2." is sent as "Aluguel apto 2".

Always check the PIX key and recipient name before confirming. If you sent to the wrong key, contact support straight away.

Receive with PIX (BRL to crypto)

  1. Enter an amount to get a PIX code.

  2. Pay the code from your bank app.

  3. Once the payment arrives, you're credited in USDT.

The PIX deposit appears in your activity once you've paid the code. If you don't pay it in time, it expires and nothing is credited. You can start a new one at any time.

Fees

1% to send and 0.3% to receive, plus Avenia's flat fee per transaction. You'll see the total before you confirm.

Receipts

Completed PIX payments you send have a downloadable PDF receipt you can share. Received PIX payments don't have a receipt.
