What are Agent Payments?

Agent cards are Oobit Business cards for automated systems and AI agents, with their own API keys and spending policies.

Written by Bernard Fisher

Agent cards are an Oobit Business feature for automated systems, scripts and AI agents, rather than people. They work like employee cards, but they authenticate differently and have more detailed spending controls.

How agent cards differ from employee cards

  • Each agent signs in with an API key (starting with oobit_mcp_), not a login.

  • Each agent has one active API key at a time. You can revoke a key and create a new one whenever you need to.

  • You can set a spending policy with a cap per transaction, daily, weekly and monthly limits, a maximum number of transactions per day, and allowed or blocked merchant categories and merchants.

  • If you don't set a policy, the defaults are $500 per transaction and $2,000 per day.

  • Payments that break the policy are declined before they reach the card network.

Eligibility

Agent cards are in beta and available to selected companies. Contact your account manager to check whether your company can use them.
